Why Murder She Wrote is an excellent tv show.

Murder She Wrote - Is possibly my favourite program in the world. If you haven't watched it before it sounds absolutely mental, Jessica Fletcher an extremely famous mystery writer (think Christie level)  and ex school teacher from a small town called Cabot cove in Maine solves MURDERS? When a murder takes place Jessica always appears to be around or is consulted by the local sheriff Amos Tupper, it appears she is allowed to meddle as she has an logical brain. The ridiculousness of the plot of Murder She Wrote is not the only reason, I adore it but  also how it is completely harmless and non threatening, no way do you ever feel that realism of violence and pain that can be so prevalent in hard hitting murder shows, It is unlikely Jessica will ever succumb to taking crystal meth as an escape . The show has a nostalgic edge to it, with it mainly being filmed in the 1980's and early nineties, so the inventions of the mobile phones and computers are new and slightly glamorous rather than part of everyday life. The fashions are a clear message too of where shoulder pads can go too far, and power dressing that would make most people wince.

If you haven't watched it do, its 40 minutes long and if it won't entertain you, it will certainly make you smile. She's the modern Marple.

Top 5 Conventions of Murder She Wrote -
1) Jessica will always laugh before the credits end.
2) Someone in the episode will refer to her as world famous
3) She has 1000000+ Nephews or Nieces
4) Nobody challenges her in police stations when she talks to detectives
5) She knows everything about anyone in Cabot Cove.

I got it, I got it.

I got my internship!

Cue a very scary but exciting couple of months next September, London here I come.

Thursday.

So it may be thanksgiving in America with a public holiday and a great meal, but I'm not jealous being English, and spending my day half procrastinating and writing essays. right. Today isn't going to be wild it will mainly constitute wearing slouchy clothes and pretending to write whilst checking my inbox continually to see if I've heard back about my internship.

Last night however I went to go see -

It was a good film, highlighting the effects of mental illness and what it could do to a whole family, and that some people can do "crazy" things and still be identified as normal. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence were amazing in it, making it utterly believable they were this screwed up pair, rather than the A- listers they are.

Going for University challenge entry competition later, it might not be possible to get on it, it'll still be fun though.

So Top 5 for today is -

Quiz shows -

1) Pointless (BBC)
2) Catchphrase (ITV)
3) Only Connect (BBC)
4) University Challenge (BBC) - Sort of have to include this one today.
5) Dale's Supermarket Sweep (ITV) - Who doesn't love a bit of cheese?

Interview

It went well!

My interview for my internship went really well. I don't know why I expected it to be some sort of dragon I had to slay. To celebrate here is a picture of a happy otter. -

Day One

So, It's come to this I've started a blog.

After getting complete freaked out about what I want to do with my life after uni I decided  to start a blog. If I'm seriously considering writing as some form of career, I thought I should write something everyday and this is it. I'm not saying it's going to be fascinating but It'll be about stuff that's either happening day to day or just what I'm interested in.

I'm also going to write a top 5 list everyday, this is totally stolen from High Fidelity and playing silly games with Joss but it's fun.

Today is a big day, having probably the biggest interview of my life so far for an internship for the first semester of next year. The internship would give me a step up, a boost to my CV and the opportunity to live in London for three months. Something that both fills me with fear and

excitement. So what did I do last night. Got wasted. I don't feel too bad today so it's okay, needed a blow out and it felt good.

Top 5 - Hangover foods.

1) Eggy bread - Preferably made by someone else but just the right level of stodginess to fill you up.

2) The Classic Bacon Sandwich, personally with lots of ketchup.

3) Any McDonald's breakfast

4) Chicken and Sweetcorn soup, I always crave salty things after a heavy night, and this just seems to have the right amount.

5) or if your lazy like me, the pizza from the night before.
